Relive the race! Tony Stewart's round-by-round run to his first Top Fuel win
Tony Stewart added another remarkable chapter to his legendary motorsports career by capturing his first NHRA Top Fuel victory at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With the win, Stewart has now earned professional victories in every major racing discipline contested at Las Vegas Motor Speedway — NASCAR, USAC, and now NHRA.
Stewart powered through one of the most demanding formats in drag racing — four-wide competition — where chaos is constant and only the top two advance per round. In the opening round, Stewart posted a 3.864-second pass at 321.19 mph to edge past Steve Chrisman and Rob Passey and move on alongside Steve Torrence.
In round two, he delivered a 3.943 at 303.50 mph to win on a holeshot over Justin Ashley and Torrence, securing his first trip to a Top Fuel final.
The final round was a nail-biter. Stewart faced off against Antron Brown, Ashley, and Jasmine Salinas. Though he was third off the line with a .082 reaction time, his 3.870-second run at 317.42 mph was enough to hold off Brown by just 0.0182 seconds — about eight feet at the finish line.
Stewart credited the victory to total team effort, the support of his wife, Leah Pruett, and months of dedication behind the scenes. From his first test in a Top Fuel car to finally raising a Wally at one of the toughest events on the calendar, it’s a full-circle moment for one of motorsports’ most accomplished names.
Now, fans can relive the full journey through the NHRA on FOX , which shows each round-win from Stewart’s thrilling path to the winner’s circle. It's a front-row seat to an iconic performance as Stewart adds a Top Fuel Wally to his racing résumé — and cements his place in NHRA history.
